Students from Qatar

We accept a wide range of curricula for admission to study Foundation, Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The information below is a guide for students completing their study in Qatar.

Foundation programmes

Candidates are expected to have achieved one of the following in the relevant curriculum: 

- Al-Thanawaya Al-Amah (GSEC): 60% overall including 60% in 5 relevant subjects

- American High School: Minimum GPA 2.0 (70%)

- Cambridge iGCSE: 5 passed with a minimum C grade average

- IB Certificate: Min 20 Points and must pass mathematics 

students starting their studies at Foundation will be taught by The College, Swansea University. All programmes are delivered on Swansea University’s Bay Campus and progression is automatic upon successful completion. If you wish to apply to The College, please fill in our online application.

Bachelor’s programmes

Candidates are expected to have achieved one of the following in the relevant curriculum:

- Advance Placement (AP) Tests: Perform well in 3 subjects relevant to the programme of study

- Cambridge A-level: Typically between BCC-AAA depending on the programme of study

- IB Diploma: Typically between 28-36 points depending on the programme of study

- Indian CBSE: Minimum 70% in Year 12 (XII)

- Qatar Foundation ABP: Please contact International Admissions. 

- SAT Reasoning Test: minimum of 570-620 in Maths and 610-650 in Reading and Writing.

Applicants that have not met the above requirements may be eligible for entry into Year 1 of the Bachelor’s programme studied at The College; our standard Year 1 programme with additional tuition and academic support. More information about this alternative Year 1 programme please contact The College. 

Bachelor’s programmes – advanced entry

Candidates pursing a degree at a Qatari university or technical college may be eligible for advanced entry into Year 2 of our 3-year Bachelor’s programmes. Suitable candidates should be performing well in their current studies and should normally seek transfer onto a similar programme. To be considered, please forward a copy of your recent transcripts to International Admissions. Admission is on a case-by-case basis.

Master Programmes

Please enquire directly to check with us if your qualifications are suitable but in most cases, candidates are expected to have successfully completed a relevant Bachelors degree from a recognised institution with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division CGPA 2.8 out of 5 or Grade C with IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each part of the test (or equivalent).

Swansea University International Scholarships

Swansea University offers a range of international scholarships to help the most talented and ambitious students to reach their potential. To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, you must have submitted an application to study at Swansea University as you will need your student number to complete the scholarship form.  

If you wish to be considered for a scholarship, it is advised that you should apply to Swansea University as soon as possible to avoid any possible delays.
